After a Stroke
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted. This interruption can be caused by the bursting of an artery or a blockage, which then fails to supply the brain with sufficient oxygen and nutrients, therefore causing brain cells to die.
Depending on the severity of the stroke, some brain cells may not be repaired and long-term functional implications may exist. Through rehabilitation and with the use of innovative adaptive equipment, assistive devices and daily living aids, a stroke sufferer has an opportunity to maintain their independence and lead an empowered and healthy lifestyle.
Please see below for assistive equipment that may help in managing stroke person's needs.
